Technology for Dental Treatment

At Northgate Dental Clinic, we use diagnostic imaging for in-depth treatment planning. This technology enables our dentists to view the internal structure of your teeth, jawbone and soft tissues. We can then share these images with you and discuss any present dental issues. Some of the diagnostic imaging tools we use include digital and panoramic X-rays, as well as intraoral scanners.

X-rays help us identify any issues in your mouth and explain the expected outcome. Our treatment rooms are equipped with monitors, allowing us to share this information with you in real time. With intraoral scanners, including the iTero® device, our dentists can create digital impressions of your teeth to assist with creating dental restorations and Invisalign clear aligners.

Our goal is to provide you with dental care backed by information and visual guides to ensure that all decisions are well-informed and that we address every aspect of care.

Digital X-Rays

Digital X-rays are a type of radiograph that uses digital sensors instead of traditional photographic X-ray film. These produce detailed images of the teeth and gums that can be viewed using a computer. They allow your dentist to examine parts of the mouth that are not visible to the naked eye to help diagnose and monitor oral health conditions.

iTero 3D Scanner

The iTero intraoral scanner takes accurate, 3D impressions of your teeth and bite. These are used to create your custom Invisalign clear aligner trays, show what your expected outcome may be after Invisalign, and monitor your progress throughout treatment. Because the images are stored digitally, they can be easily accessed by your dentist at any time.

Panoramic X-Rays

Similar to digital X-rays, panoramic X-rays use a computer to create an image of your oral structures. The main difference is that multiple images will be taken that, when put together, allow your dentist to create a single, flat view of your entire mouth. Panoramic X-rays are often used to help plan treatments like dentures and implants.

Intraoral Scanners

Intraoral scanners have a small wand that your dentist moves around your mouth to create digital dental impressions. This can be done in a matter of minutes and allows your dentist to capture accurate data to create digital replicas of the hard and soft tissues of your mouth. These impressions can be used to create restorations like crowns, dentures or veneers.
